What happens in those six weeks

Final numbers, seating, suppliers chasing decisions, family arriving, and the accumulated small emergencies of an event with a fixed date. Whatever attention you had for other projects is gone, and it does not come back until afterwards.

This is not a character flaw or a failure of organisation. It is what the six weeks before a wedding are like, for everybody.

Why it matters for the honeymoon specifically

Because the honeymoon is the one project with a deadline *after* the wedding, it is the one that gets deferred into that window. And a honeymoon decided in it is decided from whatever is still available, by two exhausted people, in the gaps between other conversations.

The trips we see booked inside the dead zone are reliably the most compromised. Not because anybody chose badly — because nobody chose at all.

How to plan around it

1. Mark it on the calendar first. Wedding date minus six weeks. Everything requiring a decision must land before it.
2. Front-load the decisions. Month, nights, total, brief — all of it in the first window.
3. Let the deposit be the last decision. Once the camps are held, the remaining work is documents and confirmations, which need attention rather than judgement.
4. Put nothing in the final fortnight except things that cannot go wrong.

And the week after the wedding

A separate point, and the most frequently regretted decision in honeymoon planning: do not fly out the morning after.

One night at home first — or two — is worth a great deal. You will be more tired than you expect, and the trip starts at 5.15 wherever you are going.
